Moist, flakey white fish combined with herbs, spices, and breadcrumbs to create a flavorful fish cake that will excite and delight family and friends alike!
Made with your favorite white fish and all the flavors of summer, these cakes are perfect for a cookout, barbecue, or shrimp boil! Use up your leftover cooked fish for a completely different experience, and a fun twist on the classic crab cake!
Ingredients
2 lbs flakey white fish, cooked through and flaked
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, small diced
1 tablespoon Dijon
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 eggs
½ teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon old bay
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons dill
2 tablespoons chives
1 Lemon, Zest and Juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lemon, in wedges
Tartar sauce for serving (if desired)

Directions
In a small saucepan melt the butter and cook the onions until translucent.
In a mixing bowl, combine mustard, mayonnaise, garlic powder, old bay, salt, white pepper, herbs, lemon juice & zest and olive oil. Stir well. Add in cooked onions and breadcrumbs and mix until fully incorporated. Lastly, add your cooked fish and mix until just combined to avoid breaking up the fish more than necessary.
Using an ice cream scoop, portion out your fish cakes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Gently press down on the top of each scoop to flatten.
Bake your Fish cakes at 400F for 10 minutes, flip and cook an additional 7-10 minutes until the tops of the cakes are golden and the center reads 165F with a temperature probe.
Recipe Note
Don’t love fish? Switch it out for crab or for favorite plant-based fish or crab substitute!
